<p>
One of Gonzalo Rubalcaba's amazing contributions to the world of jazz is
his highly original synthesis of Afro-Cuban and jazz forms. Even from the
perspective of more traditional Afro-Cuban music, or Salsa, as the Stateside
variant has been dubbed, Gonzalo's approach to the montuno must be heard to be
believed. And even then, it may still leave your head spinning. Here is a
montuno he improvised over the changes to "Woody 'N' You" by Dizzy Gillespie,
sequenced without a click as he played it, in a multitrack Standard MIDI File.
